Hydroponic Equipment.
For a simple hydroponic
system, you wont need a whole lot more than a sponge, some water, a
bag of plant nutrients (or nutrient solution), a dish, some seeds,
and a pair of fluorescent lights. But what else could you use if you
wanted a more elaborate system?
Some hydroponic systems utilize significantly more hydroponic
equipment. For instance, some systems constantly provide plants with
a flow of water-based nutrient solution. They do this by seating
plants directly above a pipe with a slight gradient, allowing only
the roots to reach down into the pipe. They then use hydroponic
equipment, including pumps and feeders, to move solution through the
pipe and over the roots. This is considered to be one of the most
efficient systems for growth; and can often produce larger plants
and in more dense packs. Additionally, this can also be extremely
cost effective if the grower utilizes economies of scale with
massive greenhouse-hydroponic systems.
Another important piece of equipment is the light bulb. Luckily for
hydroponic growers, light bulb technology has exploded in recent
years¡Xpartly in response to the growing demand for more
energy-efficient appliances. Growers can now purchase light bulbs
that closely attempt to mimic sunlight, providing the right
frequencies of light to the plant. XraSun and Radiant are two of the
better known hydroponic equipment brands for light bulbs.
The last piece of equipment you will want to consider is a
greenhouse. This might seem expensive or unnecessary, but it doesn't
have to be. If you plan to sell your yield, a greenhouse could
reduce your electrical inputs and increase your yield; however, if
you prefer an entirely controlled system, you may want to skip over
this piece of hydroponic equipment. In summary, hydroponic equipment
varies from the simple, inexpensive items to more elaborate
expensive equipment including a greenhouse. So essentially, you can
take up hydroponic gardening at every level and at every budget.
